Maguai Festival, Guangxi, China
The legend of the Zhuang nationality believes that the goddess of the frog is in charge of wind and rain, and the frog is called Maguai in the local dialog. The Zhuang villages along the Hongshui River offer sacrifices to Maguai, praying for good weather every year, abundant crops every year, and prosperity of people and animals in all seasons. The Maguai Festival usually starts from the beginning of the new year to the second day of the second month of February.
